Domain Configuration

Connect your own domain name to your Mozhe store to create a professional branded shopping experience. This guide covers adding custom domains, configuring DNS, and verifying SSL certificates.

Prerequisites

  • Access to your store's dashboard
  • Admin or Member role for your site
  • Ownership of the domain you want to connect
  • Access to your domain's DNS settings (at your domain registrar)

Understanding Domain Options

Your Mozhe store supports two types of domain configurations:

Subdomain (Default)

By default, your store is accessible via a subdomain of the Mozhe platform:

https://yourstore.mozhe.rs

This works immediately with no additional configuration required.

Custom Domain

Connect your own domain for a fully branded experience:

https://yourstore.com

or

https://shop.yourcompany.com

Adding a Custom Domain

To connect your custom domain:

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Site > Domains
  2. Click Add Domain
  3. Enter your domain name (e.g., yourstore.com or shop.yourcompany.com)
  4. Click Add

The system will:

  • Register your domain with the hosting infrastructure
  • Generate DNS verification records
  • Begin monitoring for verification completion

DNS Configuration

After adding your domain, you need to configure DNS records at your domain registrar.

For Apex Domains (yourstore.com)

If you're connecting your main domain (without www or subdomain), configure:

Record TypeHostValue
A@76.76.21.21

Note: Some registrars use "@" for the apex domain, others leave it blank.

For Subdomains (shop.yourstore.com)

If you're connecting a subdomain, configure:

Record TypeHostValue
CNAMEshopcname.vercel-dns.com

Replace "shop" with your desired subdomain.

Verification Record

In addition to the A or CNAME record, you may need to add a TXT verification record:

Record TypeHostValue
TXT_vercel[verification code]

The exact verification record will be displayed in your dashboard after adding the domain.

Verification Process

Domain Status

Your domain will progress through these stages:

Checking Verification Status

To check your domain's verification status:

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Site > Domains
  2. Find your domain in the list
  3. Click Refresh to check the latest status

Tip: DNS changes can take 10 minutes to 48 hours to propagate globally. If verification fails immediately after adding DNS records, wait and try again.

Troubleshooting Verification

If your domain shows "Failed" status:

  1. Click on the domain to view configuration details
  2. Compare the displayed DNS records with your registrar settings
  3. Common issues:
    • Typos in DNS values
    • Conflicting existing records
    • DNS not propagated yet
    • Wrong record type (A vs CNAME)

Testing DNS propagation:

You can use external tools to verify your DNS changes have propagated:

  • whatsmydns.net
  • dnschecker.org

SSL Certificates

SSL certificates are automatically provisioned for verified domains.

SSL Status

Automatic HTTPS

Once your SSL certificate is active:

  • All HTTP requests automatically redirect to HTTPS
  • Your store displays the secure padlock icon
  • Customer payment information is encrypted

No action required - SSL certificates are automatically managed and renewed.

Managing Multiple Domains

You can connect multiple domains to your store. This is useful for:

  • Regional domains (yourstore.com, yourstore.de, yourstore.fr)
  • Brand variations
  • Migrating from an old domain

Primary Domain

One domain is designated as your primary domain, used for:

  • Canonical URLs (SEO purposes)
  • Email links
  • Order confirmation links

Adding Additional Domains

Repeat the domain adding process for each additional domain. All domains will serve the same store content.

Removing a Domain

To disconnect a domain from your store:

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Site > Domains
  2. Find the domain you want to remove
  3. Click the Remove button
  4. Confirm the removal

Important: After removing a domain:

  • The domain will no longer point to your store
  • Any bookmarks or links to that domain will stop working
  • You should update your DNS records at your registrar

DNS Records Management

For domains using Vercel nameservers, you can manage DNS records directly from the dashboard.

Available Record Types

Adding DNS Records

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Site > Domains
  2. Click on your domain
  3. Navigate to the DNS Records section
  4. Click Add Record
  5. Select the record type and enter the required values
  6. Save the record

Note: DNS record management is only available for domains using Vercel nameservers.

Best Practices

  1. Use HTTPS everywhere - Never disable SSL redirection
  2. Set up www redirect - Configure both www and non-www versions
  3. Update your branding - After connecting a custom domain, update any hardcoded URLs in your marketing materials
  4. Monitor expiration - Keep your domain registration active

Common Issues

Domain already exists on another project

This error means the domain is already configured on another Vercel project. You'll need to:

  1. Remove the domain from the other project, OR
  2. Use a different domain/subdomain

Certificate provisioning failed

SSL certificate issues usually resolve automatically. If the error persists:

  1. Ensure DNS is correctly configured
  2. Remove and re-add the domain
  3. Contact support if issues continue

Domain not resolving

If your domain doesn't load your store:

  1. Verify DNS records are correct
  2. Check domain status is "Active"
  3. Try accessing from a different network (DNS caching)
  4. Wait for DNS propagation if recently changed
